We have some more people officially filing. Lance Byars, a real estate agent and the son of the former head of Bi-Lo, is running for County Council in District 21. He is another one of the “young guns” who is announcing candidacy this year for various Upstate seats. His political homepage is literally just a page at this point so it is tough to figure out what his goals are and what his plans may be. His opponents, Rick Roberts and Stacy Kuper already have done that. Googling around, it sounds like Byars is a politico of sorts having helped on the Bush and Walker presidential campaigns this year. His campaign filings shows nothing.
The other person new person running for County Council is Mike Barnes. His campaign filing shows nothing, and he has no website. He may be the same Mike Barnes who ran in 2012 against Joe Baldwin in the Greer area.
For those who don’t recall, Barnes won the GOP primary by more than 300 votes over Baldwin, but then was bounced from the November ticket after a lawsuit alleged he didn’t file the proper paperwork.
