The Greenville News is jumping into the political race with a series by hosting political forums across the county.

The first forum (I always feel the phrase Penthouse need to come before forum) will be Monday, May 2, at the Kroc Center in downtown Greenville from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It will include candidates for state Senate Districts 6 (incumbent Mike Fair, fellow Republicans Johnny Edwards and Will Timmons) and 7 (incumbent Karl Allen, fellow Democrat challenger Lillian Brock Flemming and Republican Glen L. Robinson), state House District 22 (incumbent Wendy Nanney and her Republican challenger Jason Elliott), and County Council District 25 (incumbent Lottie Gibson with fellow Dems Ennis Fant, Bunk Johnson, Martha Evans and Bajeyah Eaddy).

The second forum includes Thursday, May 12 from 7 p.m. to 9.m. at the Cannon Center in Greer for candidates in State Senate Districts 5 (incumbent Tom Corbin and challenger John B. White ) and 12 (incumbent Lee Bright with GOP challengers David McCraw, Scott Talley and Lisa C. Scott), and County Council races for seats 18 (incumbent Joe Baldwin and challenge Mike Barnes) and 21 ( an open race on the GOP side between Stacy Kuper, Rick Roberts and Lance Byars).

Both forums are being done with the Greenville, Greer and Simpsonville chambers and will be open to the public.
