We got the below release from the Jason Elliott campaign. Looks like a preemptive strike against Wendy Nanney who is getting a thinly veiled endorsement fro Gov. Haley this afternoon in Greenville.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – With less than a week to go until the primary, Jason Elliott, the challenger in State House District 22, is calling out incumbent Wendy Nanney on her values and work ethic.

The Greenville attorney has already produced evidence that Nanney has missed more votes in Columbia than any other member of the Greenville delegation, with 961 missed votes in the past three sessions. One of those missed votes occurred February 12, 2015 on the pain capable abortion bill which Nanney sponsored.

“I am pro-life, and I applaud Wendy for being a pro-life advocate,” Elliott said. “But what kind of leader just vanishes when her bill is being read in the House for the first time? To me, it shows a lack of commitment to her own bill, which she apparently didn’t think would pass; however, she has been forced to appear like she was doing her job after I announced I was running for her seat.”

Elliott also questioned Nanney’s commitment to children and families by pointing out the numerous bills for which she voted NO in the past year, including stricter registration of sex offenders (H3133), protecting children from internet crimes (H473), and requiring more notice of abuse cases against children (H4492).

“How can Wendy Nanney claim to be pro-family when she routinely looks the other way on crimes against children?” he asked. “She is a one-issue politician.”

Elliott also called out Nanney’s failing record with numerous conservative groups, including the Club for Growth of South Carolina, the Palmetto Liberty Action Committee, the Greenville Tea Party, and more. He also mentioned recent media stories in which she erroneously referred to her area of representation as District 21 instead of the accurate District 22.

“Wendy Nanney is a Columbia insider who has lost touch with the average person in her district,” Elliott said. “She is taking taxpayer dollars and wasting them.”
