Governor's Race: So far away, but yet so close

With a very boring November awaiting us at the polls, many political experts are looking ahead to the Great Gubernatorial Race of 2018. The Charleston Post and Courier featured eight potential nominees in a story over the weekend.

The only candidate from Greenville being mentioned is long-time federal judge, Billy Wilkins. on face value, he is a long shot since he hasn't run for office since the Carter Administration. However, he is from a political power family. He is very smart. He speaks well on his feet, and more importantly he is from Greenville.

It has been almost two decades since Carroll Campbell was governor and a Greenvillian held lived full-time in the governor's mansion. People remember that. Greenville Republicans have the money and the time to get someone elected if they decide to rally behind Wilkins.
